Description
Studio portrait of 2803 Private (Pte) John Copeland, 9th Reinforcements, 14th Battalion, of Longwood, Vic. Pte Copeland enlisted on 7 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Hororata on 27 September 1915. He was killed in action on 12 August 1916 at Pozieres, France. His brother, 1475 Gunner (Gnr) Arthur Copeland, was killed in Ypres, Belgium, on 5 September 1917.
