Three original grave markers, in the form of a cross, of soldiers who died serving with the 24th Battalion. Left to right: 6400 Corporal (Cpl) Leslie Cunliffe Thomasson, 18th Reinforcements, 24th Battalion, of Camberwell, Vic. Cpl Thomasson enlisted on 14 November 1916 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Hororata on 23 November 1916. He was killed in action in France 12 August 1918 and buried at Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery. Middle black cross: Lieutenant (Lt) Eric Henry Drummond Edgerton, 1st Reinforcements, 24th Battalion, of Elsternwick, Vic. Lt Edgerton enlisted on 14 April 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Euripides on 8 May 1915. Lt Edgerton was awarded several medals including the Military Medal (MM) on 27 October 1916. In December 1918 he received the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) for leading his platoon during an attack on Ville-Sur-Ancre IN May 1918 and capturing enemy machine guns. He was killed in action on 11 August 1918 near Framvillers, France; and 6874A Private George Leslie Reeves, 24th Battalion, of Ballarat, Vic. He enlisted on 21 July 1917 and was killed in action on 12 August 1918 at Framvillers. He is buried at Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery.
