Group portrait of A Squadron, 2nd Armoured Car Regiment, at camp at Dapto camp. The unit was a pre-Second World War militia unit which later became the 2nd Australian Tank Battalion, AIF, in the 3rd Australian Tank Brigade. Identified in this photograph is Major Samuel (Sam) Hordern seated 6th from the right of the second row. He served in the Second World War with the service number NX34918 later commanded C Squadron of the 1st Australian Tank Battalion, AIF. He was awarded an OBE in 1945 for "highly meritorious service at Sattelberg" in 1943.
