Description
Studio portrait of 4915 Private (Pte) Hugh Spedding, 15th Reinforcements, 7th Battalion, of Woodstock West, Vic. Pte Spedding enlisted on 15 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Wiltshire on 7 March 1916. He later served as a corporal and was killed in action on 20 August 1918 while serving with the 57th Battalion. He is memorialised, as he has no known grave, at Villers-Bretonneux, France. His brother, 2898 Sergeant Major Harold Spedding, served with the AIF Headquarters.
