Description

The Riedel motor is a small two cylinder, two cycle horizontally opposed petrol engine which develops 10 hp at 6,000 rpm. An electrical junction box with a bakelite cover is fitted to the front of the engine to allow for electric ignition. All covers and fittings, including the twin exhausts, are present. In the event of an emergency start being required, a pull cable with a metal handle is fitted. A heavy flywheel mounted to the back of the unit mates with the Jumo turbojet. A partially missing paper warning label is pasted to the front of the pull start cable unit. Rivetted to the front of the body of the motor are two serial plates.

History / Summary

This unit was normally fitted to the front of an Messerschmitt Me 262 Junkers Jumo 004B-1 jet engine as a starter motor, and was located behind a cone-shaped housing.
