Outdoor informal portrait of members of the 2nd Battalion outside a tent at Mena camp, Egypt. From left to right: Lieutenant (Lt) Frederick George Smith of Newcastle, NSW; Captain (Capt) Irvine Fleming Campbell of Scone, NSW; Lt George Edward Eccleston Kelly of West Maitland, NSW. Lt Smith enlisted on 3 September 1914 and died of wounds in Gallipoli on 8 May 1915. He is buried at the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery in Egypt. Capt Campbell enlisted 27 August 1914 and died of wounds at sea on 2 June 1915. He is commemorated at Lone Pine Memorial in Gallipoli. Lt Kelly enlisted on 13 September 1914 and was killed in action at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915.
