Studio portrait of 3062 Acting Sergeant (Sgt) Frank Wadhurst Fry, 3rd Battalion. A solicitor from West Maitland, NSW prior to enlistment, Sgt Fry embarked with the 7th Reinforcements, 18th Battalion from Sydney on HMAT Suevic on 20 December 1915. After transferring to the 3rd Battalion, he reverted to the rank of Private and was later promoted to Lance Corporal. On 15 April 1917 he was killed in action, aged 25 and was buried in the Hermies British Cemetery, France.
