Description

Studio Portrait of 463 Sergeant (Sgt) George Patrick Dykes, 41st Battalion. A draper from Mudgee, NSW prior to enlistment, Sgt Dykes embarked with the rank of Private (Pte) with B Company from Sydney on HMAT Demosthenes on 18 May 1916. Later promoted to Sergeant, he was killed in action in Belgium on 2 August 1917 and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial.
