A patrol of men from the Signals Platoon, the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), about to leave the Signal Platoon lines. The patrol lead by the Officer Commanding the Signals Platoon, Captain Laurie Watts, unsuccessfully searched for an enemy radio transmitter that was broadcasting propaganda messages, using a Chinese or North Korean English speaking female operator, that was interfering with the United States Army "Walkie Talkie" radio sets, that the battalion was using at the time. Left to right: 2/400011 Private (Pte) Bernard Goldsmith, later killed in action Kapyong on 24 April 1951; 2/3243 Pte Terry Flanagan, also later killed at Kapyong; 2/400030 Pte Robert (Bob) Parker, later wounded in action and captured at Kapyong; Corporal Spike Howard; 2/1002 Pte Allan (Darkie) Dickens, accidentally killed, possibly in a tent fire, on 21 March 1952; 3/400076 Pte J (Nishi) Nish, and 2/400093 Pte Jack Clarke, dispatch rider for battalion 2IC, Major Brown
