Official photograph of German U-Boat U-571 sinking by the Sunderland aircraft of the Anzac No. 461 Squadron, RAAF, west of Ireland. The conning tower and decking visible above the water. This submarine had previously sunk seven ships and damaged one, resulting in the loss of over 58.5 tons of shipping. When she was sunk, 52 men (all hands) died.
