The need is 'growing'.. Dig for victory still
Description
British Second World War poster issued by the Ministry of Agriculture as part of the 'Dig for Victory' campaign. The title text frames a black and white image of a foot and shovel digging into brown soil. With German U-Boats in the North Atlantic and Channel making trade difficult, British people were encouraged to turn their backyards into productive gardens. The aim was to provide vital food supplies to the local population and to free up space for military supplies on merchant navy vessels.
