Description
Studio portrait probably of 3122 Private (Pte) John Septimus Prideaux, 10th Reinforcements, 6th Battalion, of Camberwell, Vic. Pte Prideaux enlisted on 9 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Osterley on 29 September 1915. He died of pneumonia at Bailleul, France, on 17 July 1916. His brother, Ordnance Lieutenant G Prideaux, served with HMAS Australia, 2nd Battle Cruiser Squadron. His father was John Prideaux, late Chief Gunner of the Royal Navy and Victorian Naval Forces.
