Boxed Mark III oxygen tube adapter : Royal Air Force
Description
A boxed example of an Air Ministry-issue Royal Air Force (RAF) Mark III black rubber oxygen tube adapter (reference number 6D/481) issued in 1941 for use with the type E, E* G and H molded rubber masks. A Mark IVA sprung brass fitting accepts the bayonet fitting of the Mark IV oxygen hose at one end of the 76 cm long tube, while the other end connects to the oxygen supply in aircraft cockpit via a heavy duty brass bayonet fitting which incorporates a brass shield to prevent accidental disconnection. Two description tags are tied to the tubing and the box features a paper label with the Air Ministry Crown and a typed description.
