Description
A mobile thresh disinfector (left, on wheels) and 'Serbian barrels', used by the 2nd Australian Sanitary Section to kill lice in uniforms, blankets and so on. Neither of these methods were adequate for speedy, large scale disinfection, which required high pressure steam. Lice infestation was heavy among troops in the desert; opportunities for washing were limited. This image is also held at A02718.
