Description
Studio portrait of 5414 Private (Pte) Arthur Edward O'Leary, 11th Reinforcements, 8th Light Horse Regiment (Depot), of Carlton, Vic, aged 31. Pte O'Leary enlisted on 14 July 1915 and served at Depot until 4 August 1915. On 30 August 1915 he was reported as a deserter and struck off strength on 10 February 1916. He was then taken on strength by the 5th Battalion and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ayrshire on 3 July 1916. He was killed in action on 22 September 1917 at Polygon Wood, Belgium.
