A mixed group of Australian and Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) soldiers about to leave an unidentified ARVN compound for an ambush drill. Identified foreground from left are 2790951 Private (Pte) John Robert 'Bauce' Winter; Pte William (Bill) O'Mara; 2788441 Pte Murray Ross Bignell (talking on the AN/PRC 25 wireless set). Pte Winter is armed with a 7.62 mm M60 general purpose machine gun (GPMG) and Privates O'Mara and Bignell are armed with 5.56 mm M16A1 automatic rifles.
