Woven cloth patch of HC-2 DET TWO 'Desert Duck Airlines'
Circular Velcro backed woven cloth patch in khaki cotton fabric with brown, black, yellow, red and white embroidery. The badge features an image of a standing duck in flowing robes, wearing arab headgear and carrying a shield and scimitar. On the scimitar's blade are the letters 'VEO'. The words 'HC-2 DET TWO' and 'DESERT DUCK AIRLINES' appear at the top and bottom of the badge respectively.
Helicopter Combat Support Squadron Light 2 (HC-2) is a US Navy unit performing search and rescue, resupply and executive transport tasks. Detachment Two (Det Two) of HC -2, known as 'Desert Duck Airlines', operates Sikorsky UH-3H Sea King helicopters out of Bahrain, providing VIP and logistical support to Coalition vessels assigned to the Arabian Gulf. The 'Desert Ducks' are highly popular for the service they provide, but notorious for 'stamping' ships visited with large yellow duck footprints on the flight deck, a practice not always popular with Australians vessels.
