Description
Improvised spanner socket consisting of a standard chromed forged steel alloy 2-3/8 inch (60mm) socket with a welded extension to 76mm inner diameter with eight notches. Made to fit over coupling spline.
History / Summary
Made by the Deployed FIMA (Fleet Intermediate Maintenance Authority) Assistance Group (DFAG) aboard HMAS Kanimbla, during Operation Slipper in the Persian Gulf. Its purpose was to disconnect the tail rotor drive shaft coupling on the ship's Westland Sea King helicopter, enabling its tail unit to be folded for stowage.
