Description
Studio portrait of 2112 Corporal (Cpl) William Nicholas Ruddick, 4th Reinforcements, 22nd Battalion, of Eaglehawk, Vic. Pte Ruddick enlisted on 2 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Hororata on 27 September 1915. He was killed in action on 5 August 1916 at Pozieres, France. Two of his cousins were also killed in action; 2251 Pte Gilbert Martin, 2nd Pioneer Battalion, of St Arnaud, Vic, was killed in action on 4 July 1918; and 3572 Pte William Joseph Sampson Martin, 51st Battalion, of Boulder, WA, was killed in action on 6 July 1916 in France.
