Right: NX71526 Private (Pte) Douglas Hugh Jenkins of Wagga Wagga, NSW. Middle: NX72783 Pte Harold Macgregor Sutton of Sydney, NSW. Front, sitting: NX71443 Lance Corporal (L Cpl) Michael John Harnett of Manly, NSW. Pte Jenkins enlisted on 20 March 1941 and died of wounds in Malaya on 11 February 1942, aged 21. L Cpl Harnett enlisted on 19 March 1941 and was killed in action in Malaya on 11 February 1942, aged 21. Pte Morris was made prisoner of war in February 1942, survived working on the Burma Thailand railway and returned to Australia in 1945. A teacher by profession he became a long term volunteer research assistant at the Australian War Memorial.
