US Marine Corps leaf pattern camouflage shirt : Major D Gazzard, Headquarters 1 Australian Task Force
US Marine Corp issue M65 leaf pattern camouflage tropical combat jacket with fold down collar. The jacket is secured by concealed buttons and has long sleeves fastened at the cuff by an adjustable button closure. There are four expanding pleated pockets with concealed buttoned flap closure and reinforced drainage holes. Two pockets are at the breast and two are below the waistline. The breast pockets are angled diagonally outwards at the bottom and the left flap has a gap in the seam for a small internal pocket. The camouflage is made up of a brown, black, light and dark green disruptive pattern.
Worn by 36765 Major Donald Edward Gazzard of Headquarters 1 Australian Task Force Vietnam. Major Gazzard was posted to Vietnam with A Squadron 3 Cavalry Regiment from 20 January 1969 to 7 May 1969. He transferred to B Squadron from 10 June to 1 October and then served with HQ 1 ATF from 2 October to 21 January 1970 before his posting back to Australia. During his time with HQ 1 ATF Gazzard was a liasion officer with the South Vietnamese Marine Brigade Bravo. This US Marine Corps uniform was given to him by the senior American advisor with the brigade.
