US Marine Corps leaf pattern camouflage trousers : Major D Gazzard, Headquarters 1 Australian Task Force
US Marine Corps issue M65 leaf pattern camouflage tropical combat trousers. The trousers have a zip fly front with one button and two side pockets. The trousers also have inset rear pockets and two pleated pockets on the side above the knees. Both sets of pockets have concealed button flap closure. The trousers have drawstring cuffs and a waistband with seven belt loops and a black metal buckle on each side with a fabric tab for tightening. A size label is sewn inside the back of the waistband and another maker's label describing material and instructions is sewn on the inside of the right rear pocket.
Worn by 36765 Major Donald Edward Gazzard of Headquarters 1 Australian Task Force Vietnam. Major Gazzard was posted to Vietnam with A Squadron 3 Cavalry Regiment from 20 January 1969 to 7 May 1969. He transferred to B Squadron from 10 June to 1 October and then served with HQ 1 ATF from 2 October to 21 January 1970 before his posting back to Australia. During his time with HQ 1 ATF Gazzard was a liasion officer with the South Vietnamese Marine Brigade Bravo. This US Marine Corps uniform was given to him by the senior American advisor with the brigade.
