Description
Photograph on glass transparency of Hugh Anderson, who was enlisted as 4091 Sapper (Spr) Hugh Ball, who served with the 1st Tunnelling Company during the First World War. Inscription on the glass reads 'Hugh Anderson - Stepson of Mrs E M Ball, Gate House, King Street, Wynnum. Now Fighting Somewhere in France'. He returned to Australia in July 1919. The lantern slide would likely have been used as part of a show in a cinema. Such slide shows were done as part of a patriotic display recognising soldiers from a local area.
