Nui Dat, South Vietnam. 1969-11. A member of the Army's 161st Reconnaissance Flight in Vietnam, 2nd Lieutenant Bob Thomson of Wacol, Qld, straps himself into the seat of his Sioux helicopter. The reconnaissance flight is with the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) and its aircraft, Sioux helicopters and Cessna fixed wing aircraft, are continuously airborne acting as eyes for the troops on the ground.
