Description

South Vietnam. 1969-08. Four soldiers examine captured weapons and equipment found at the site of a successful night ambush. Left to right: Craftsman Robert Brown of Moorabin, Vic; Trooper Rod Beazley of Narrogin, WA; Corporal Peter Gateley of Townsville, Qld; Gunner John Oxenham of Griffith, NSW. The enemy were engaged by armoured personnel carriers (APCs) of 3 Troop, B Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, on the coast of south-eastern Phuoc Tuy Province. A search of the area at first light found the bodies of twelve dead Viet Cong (VC), and later that day one of the enemy surrendered.
