Description
Studio portrait of (Depot 800) 1512 Private (Pte) Edward George Brain, 1st Reinforcements, 22nd Battalion, of Stratford, Vic. Pte Brain enlisted on 13 March 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Berrima on 28 June 1915. He died at sea from enteric fever on 24 October 1915. His older brother 2631 Pte Alfred William Brain, 60th Battalion, was wounded at Villers-Bretonneux and invalided home on 23 July 1918.
