Description
Studio portrait of 6134 Private (Pte) Edmund Martin Burrows, 11th Reinforcements, 2nd Field Artillery Brigade (2FAB), of Richmond, Vic. Pte Burrows enlisted on 28 May 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Nestor on 11 October 1915. Pte Burrows previously served with the Senior Cadets for four years. He was invalided back to Australia aboard HMAT Argyleshire on 3 March 1916 suffering from tachycardia. Pte Burrows re-enlisted and his service number changed to 2542. He embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Shropshire on 25 September 1916 with the 5th Reinforcements, 57th Battalion. Pte Burrows was admitted to the 1st Auxiliary Hospital at Weymouth on 26 July 1917 suffering from shell shock and returned to Australia on 10 September 1917.
