Description
A German dugout built in a portion of their front line system immediately before La Douve Farm, near Messines and captured by the 39th Battalion in the Battle of 7 June 1917. The west slope of Messines Ridge and Hill 49 can be seen in the background. The Douve River, which was the dividing line between two German armies, ran along the foot of the slope.
