French refugees congregated about the 1st Australian Divisional Headquarters at Wallon-Cappel. The presence of Australian troops in this, former rest area, restored confidence in the hearts of the French peasantry and the soldiers were received everywhere with demonstrations of joy and relief. Note the lorry on the left and the truck and car on the road.
