Informal portrait of 'The Whizzbangs', concert party of the 1st Australian General Hospital ...
Informal portrait of 'The Whizzbangs', concert party of the 1st Australian General Hospital (1AGH), on the stage in the mess recreation hut. Left to right, back row (standing): Corporal (Cpl) G. B. McKenzie; Private (Pte) E. A. Osborne; Pte M. Houghton. Middle row (seated): Pte K. Evans; Pte R. T. Dredge. Front row (seated): Pte J. Dando; Pte R. Lambert; Cpl A. W. Porter; Pte P. J. Lee. The decorations and costumes were all "home made". The performances were given to entertain the patients and personnel from time to time, according to talent available and pressure of work on hand. At one period the dramatic side of the 1AGH Concert Party was very strong, there being three professionals amongst the personnel. The cast was strong enough to perform at the Town Hall at Rouen.
