Description

View of the interior of an acute surgical ward at the 1st Australian General Hospital. The ward was a wooden hut of engineer construction in 1914 when the premises were those of a Stationary Hospital (British). Lino on the floor, Sinclair frames, once beds, for purposes of elevation of limbs. Identified in the foreground are: Sister Shadforth (left), and Staff Nurse Nisbet (centre).
