Hongorai River
Description
This honour was awarded for participation in the offensive patrolling engagements that led to the successful advance from the Puriata River and Dawe’s Creek to the Hongorai River, in Bougainville’s Southern Sector. Advancing along two axes, along Buin and Commando Roads, the Australians reached Hongorai River, an “intermediate objective” on their way to Hari River.
