Description

Awarded for participation in the operations to secure the highest points in the Prince Alexander Mountains - Mount Tazaki, Mount Shiburangu and "The Blot" - south of Wewak in northern New Guinea. The limits of the honour are defined by the issue of the operations order on 28 May 1945, and the linkage of the 2/4th and 2/8th Battalions on the ridge connecting Mount Tazaki and Mount Shiburangu on 5 July 1945.
