Pabu
Description
This honour was awarded for participation in the defensive engagement on Pabu Hill and North Hill, north of Scarlet Beach, Huon Peninsula, New Guinea. After capturing Pabu Hill, the Australians withstood several days of heavy counter-attacks, as the Japanese tried unsuccessfully to retake the position. The occupation of Pabu Hill severed the main Japanese supply route from the sea to the Sattelberg–Wareo area, diverting Japanese forces from the defence of Sattelberg.
