The British landing at Suvla Bay (6 to 7 August 1915) was part of the August Offensive at the Gallipoli. Having successfully landed, the British forces consolidated their positions rather than immediately advancing to their main objectives. Turkish reinforcements blocked any further progress and stalemate set in. One final offensive action at Scimitar Hill and Hill 60 on 21 August also ended in failure. Sporadic fighting continued until the final evacuation from Suvla in December 1915.
