A sketch showing the elevation and plan of the Scharnhorst and the Gneisenau, both German armoured cruisers. Each carried eight 8.2 inch guns, six 5.9 inch guns and 20 3.4 inch guns, and had a displacement of 11 600 tons; their respective speeds were 21 and 24 knots.
