Tropical Trials: general trial aspects M551 Sheridan weapons system
Description
Shows trials and tests conducted in Australia on the United States M551 Sheridan Armoured Reconnaissance Airborne Assault Vehicle. The Sheridan was not accepted for service with the Australian Army and only saw limited action with the US Army in Vietnam where many deficiencies were revealed. Though its mobility was an asset the Sheridan's light armour could be pierced by heavy machine gun rounds and the vehicle was very vulnerable to mines.
