Firepower
A Head Quarters Training Command film produced by Film Australia. The objective of the film is to show the firepower of the major weapons available on the land battlefield to the Australian Army. Shown and described the characteristics and role of the weapons of the Infantry, Armour, and Artillery, Engineers, Naval gunfire and Air support. Small arms shown are the 7.62 mm L1A1 Self loading rifle, 5.56 mm M16 rifle, 7.62mm Parker Hale sniper rifle, L4A4 Bren gun, M60 General Purpose Machine Gun, L7AL General Service Machine Gun, F1 66mm L1A2 Short Range Anti Armour Weapon, 84mm L14A1 Carl Gustav, 106mm M40A1 Recoilless Rifle mounted on a Land Rover vehicle, 103mm MILAN wire guided anti tank weapon, F2 81mm mortar, M26 High Explosive and smoke grenades, M34 White phosphorous grenade, 40mm M2O3 Grenade launcher, Bangalore torpedo, M18A1 Claymore anti personnel directional mine and Flame thrower. Armour shown are the Leopard AS1 Main Battle Tank, Medium Reconnaissance Vehicle (MRV), Light Reconnaissance Vehicle (LRV) and various versions of the M113 Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC). Artillery shown are the M2A2 105mm Howitzer, 105mm L5 Pack Howitzer, 155mm M198 Howitzer, RBS70 Extreme Low Level Air Defence Weapon and the Rapier Low Level Air Defence Missile System. Engineer's weapons shown are the M14 Anti Personnel Blast Mine, M16 Anti Personnel Mine, Mark 5 Anti Tank Mine and the Giant and Baby Viper for mine clearing. Naval Gun Fire weapons are the 5 inch guns of the Charles F Adams Class Guided Missile Destroyers (shown is HMAS Hobart), 4.7 inch guns of the River Class Frigates and 76 mm Gun of the FFG -7 Class (not Shown). Air Support shown are Army Aviation Pilatus Porter armed with 5.7 inch rocket pods, RAAF Iroquois helicopter gunships armed with 5.7 inch rocket pods , 7.62 mm Mini Guns and two dual M60 Machine. Fighter/Ground Attack shows Mirage 110, F/A 18 Hornet and F111C aircraft dropping high and low drag and laser guided bombs.
