Meredith Burgmann interviewed for the documentary "Hell No We Won't Go"
Description
Meredith Burgmann came from a politically engaged establishment family. Her grandfather was an Anglican Bishop. She entered Sydney University in 1966, became politically involved and was elected to the SRC which set up an anti-conscription committee. Meredith was active in organizing a range of anti-war/anti-conscription activities and continued her political activism in a number of arenas after graduation, including the ALP. Her activism had consequences for her later in terms of employment and within the Labor Party where there was an unsuccessful attempt to use her record to block her appointment as President of the NSW Legislative Council. (Description provided by interviewer).
