Newsreel item on the signing of the articles of surrender by German Commanders. Covers the signing of surrender of German forces in Northern Italy and parts of Austria by two un-named German officers in civilian dress in the presence of Lieutenant General W D Morgan United States Army and British and Soviet representatives. Field Marshal Montgomery's HQ Lueneberg, Germany, 4 May 1945 and the signing of surrender by Admiral Hans von Friedeberg for German forces in North West Germany, Holland and Denmark. Rhiems, France and German delegates General Alfried Jodl and Admiral Hans von Friedeburg sign the surrender for all German land, sea and air forces that had not previously capitualed. Berlin, Germany and the formal ratifiction of Germany's surrender. The German representatives present included Field Marshal Wilhelm von Keitel, Admiral Hans von Friedeberg and General Stump. The item concludes with the Allied Supreme Commander General Dwight D Eisenhower message that the fulfilment of the Allies aim of unconditional surrender was achieved by team work amongst the Allies and also amongst the respective services involved.
