Portrait of Rear Admiral Rosslyn Wemyss RN in an armoured lighter ('Beetle'). He was appointed as Governor of Lemnos in February 1915 to prepare Mudros for the operations against the Dardanelles. In December 1917 Vice Admiral Wemyss was appointed First Sea Lord. He later returned as Admiral of the Fleet 1917-1919.
