Description
At Sea. July 1915. The Navy balloon ship Hecla, which was in attendance on the fleet off Gallipoli Peninsula, from the first day. She carried a large captive balloon forward which used to be sent up with cradle attachment from which observers directed the naval fire. Bombs were often dropped at this from Turkish aeroplanes, but it was never hit.
