Description

View of the Balkan gun pits, dug during the 1912 Balkan War by the Turkish. This position was raided by the 2nd Australian Light Horse Brigade in June, 1915. This position is just in front of Chatham's Post on the extreme right flank of our line. Taken from Turkish trenches on Holly Spur looking west. One of a series of photographs taken on the Gallipoli Peninsula under the direction of Captain C E W Bean of the Australian Historical Mission, during the months of February and March, 1919.
