A dugout at Gallipoli, Turkey that was bombed while occupied by Signaller J Campbell, 8th Light Horse Regiment. The soldier bending down is 554 Trooper Bernard Lindsay O'Mullane, 8th Light Horse Regiment from South Yarra, Victoria. A 19 year old letter carrier prior to enlisting on 9 January 1915, he embarked for overseas with A Squadron from Melbourne on 25 February 1915 aboard HMAT Star of Victoria. He was killed in action at The Nek on 7 August 1915 and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli with others who have no known grave.
