Studio portrait of 7510 Private (Pte) Reginald Johnston, 6th Battalion from Surrey Hills, Victoria. A 32 year old builder prior to enlisting on 15 June 1917, he embarked for overseas with the 25th Reinforcements from Melbourne on 4 August 1917 aboard HMAT Themistocles. Following further training in England, he joined the 6th Battalion in France where he was killed in action near Strazeele on 7 June 1918. Pte Johnston is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France with others who have no known grave.
