Studio portrait of 4067 Private (Pte) Joseph Claude Bolton, 18th Battalion, of Concord, NSW. An engine cleaner prior to enlistment, Pte Bolton embarked with the 10th Reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Star of England on 8th March 1916. On 4th May 1917 he died of wounds received in action in France and was buried in the Vaulx Australian Field Ambulance Cemetery.
