Description
Studio portrait of 1127 Private Edgar Robert Colbeck Adams, 8th Battalion, of Mildura, Vic. Pte Adams enlisted on 14 September 1914, aged 18, and took part in the landing on Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 when it appears he was taken Prisoner of War (POW). He managed to send a message in a bottle which was picked up in Egypt on 1 November 1915. The message read "am prisoner about 2 miles from where we landed...". However no official record of Pte Adams as a prisoner or any subsequent fate was ever received. An inquiry was held and the finding was that he died on or about 25 April 1915 in Turkish hands.
