Informal portrait of Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Glen Alburn William James Knight, Australian Army Medical Corps seated at his desk. A medical practitioner from Port Melbourne, Vic prior to enlistment, Lt Col Knight embarked with the rank of Captain with the General Reinforcements, 1st Australian General Hospital, from Melbourne on HMAT Mooltan on 18 April 1915. After serving in France, he took ill and returned to England where, in spite of his poor health, He was promoted to Major and then to Lieutenant Colonel. Due to the excellence of his work he was made an Officer of the Military Division of the British Empire. He was also brought to the notice of the Secretary of War for valuable services rendered. He returned to Australia on 8 January 1919 and was medically discharged.
