The merchant ship Changsha has arrived at Kure with Mustangs for the RAAF in Japan, and stores for the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR). Their escort duty completed, unidentified reinforcements for 3RAR wait on the wharf before going to their new unit. The officer on the far left has been identified as 48000 Major A F P Lukyn.
