Abstract

Many soldiers have perfmormed outstanding acts of bravery which, but for the absense of "acceptable" witnesses or other local and often political factors. would normally have been recognised with a higher award than that is actually granted. It is for this reason that the Distinguished Conduct Medal is frequently rated as a ' Victoria Cross missed ". One such example of this is the case of Lieutentant Duglad Drummond.
